Social media sites will face fines if they don't do enough to tackle harmful content and keep users safe.
The Government is today announcing plans for a new Online Safety Commissioner to regulate tech companies.
The Commissioner will have powers to ensure compliance with new legislation, and force firms to take down content if issues like cyberbullying and self-harm aren't properly tackled.
