A Galway County Councillor says she's disappointed that the realignment of the N84 road between Shrule and Headford is not on the priority list for the TII -Transport Infrastructure Ireland.

Headford-based Fianna Fail Councillor Mary Hoade says it was expected that, following the completion of works between Galway and Corrandulla, the second phase would commence between Shrule and Headford, where the road is not wide enough for two vehicles in some spots.

This section of road forms part of the main road between Castlebar and Galway, and Councillor Hoade is calling on the TII to prioritise this project.

A petition is also being collected in the area to further the campaign.
