A public meeting will take place in Ballaghaderreen this Thursday evening to give people an opportunity to hear more about a proposed battery storage facility planned for the town.
Roscommon County Council recently granted planning permission for a battery storage facility at Tonroe in Ballaghaderreen.
The planned facility would be located close to Kilcolman housing estate and some residents and locals have expressed concern about the safety of such a plant.
Permission has been granted for 10 battery storage containers and 20 coolers.
Planning permission for a similar facility in Longford was refused by Longford County Council on safety grounds.
Local Sinn Fein Councillor Michael Mulligan told Midwest News there are concerns about the planned facility in Ballaghaderreen.
The public meeting will take place this Thursday evening, upstairs at Spell’s Bar and starts at 7.30pm.
