The government minister in charge of overseeing insurance industry reform says there are 'geographical clusters' where a culture of claiming compensation is more prevalent than others.

Junior Minister Michael D'Arcy says he only has 'anecdotal' evidence suggesting certain parts are worse but it remains a national problem.

Speaking to the Sunday Independent, he says even 'honest people' are exaggerating claims and that a key area of his reforms will centre around tackling those at the lower-levels.

The average whiplash injury payout in Ireland is 15 thousand euro - 3 times more than in the UK.
