Minister Michael has confirmed that improvements to access to a popular angling destination at Cushlough Bay near Ballinrobe have been completed.
This follows the allocation of €21,263 from Inland Fisheries Ireland to Ballinrobe and District Angling Club to carry out the works including the resurfacing and realigning of the carpark, as well as the provision of security fencing around the perimeter.
Speaking today, Minister Ring said: “It has been confirmed to me by my colleague, Sean Canney TD, who is the Minister with responsibility for the Inland Fisheries sector, that the improvement works have been completed at this popular angling destination at Cushlough Bay.
He said this is great news for local anglers and indeed for the many visiting anglers who fish at Cushlough Bay. By investing in these facilities, the Government is supporting a valuable recreational pursuit for local people and helping to attract visitors to the area, which is good for the local hospitality industry.
In addition to this funding, Ballinrobe & District Trout Anglers Association and the World Cup Trout Fly Championship Committee provided €6,641 to upgrade the slipway as an extra part of the project.
