Among the projects listed under the 2019 Capital Investment programme for Mayo County Council is a 6 milllion euro new Civic Offices for Castlebar Municipal District.

It’s part of a 30 million euro plan for projects across the county, but according to Killala based Fine gael councillor Jarlath Munnelly this programme of investment requires debate at Mayo county council level and then should be open to public submissions.

He says that the Fine Gael councillors on Mayo County council are not prepared to approve any Capital Investment Plan for the county without discussion and more clarification and detail on the projects proposed.

He told Midwest News today that he called for a similar discussion last year when a Capital Investment plan was produced at budget time, but his efforts were unsuccessful.
