Celebrations are taking place this weekend to mark the 75th anniversary of the Castlebar Order of Malta.
On Friday evening, Mayo County Council will extend a civic reception to the Castlebar Order of Malta, which was founded in 1943.
On Saturday afternoon at 3pm, a special plaque will be unveiled at the Mayo Peace Park and Garden of Remembrance at Lannagh Road, dedicated to the memory of the voluntary ambulance services and first-aid personnel for their dedicated service to the State during the two World Wars and during disasters and crises here and abroad.
This includes former members of the Order of Malta, Civil Defence, Irish Red Cross and St John's Ambulance.
Tom Jennings of Castlebar Order of Malta gave Midwest News the details today.
