Turnout is reported to be low in many areas of the country in the Presidential Election and the referendum on whether or not to remove the offence of blasphemy from the Constitution.

Polling stations opened at 7am and will remain open until 10pm tonight.

The average across Mayo so far this evening is at 19%.

The highest turnout so far this evening in the county is at Scoil Iosa, Ballyhaunis with 20% voter turnout.
