Almost one million euro in funding has been announced this morning for local road improvements in county Mayo.
Minister for Rural and Community Development Michael Ring has allocated 988,235 euro under the LIS scheme, in a second tranche of funding under the scheme this year.
Last February Mayo received 855,000 euro in LIS (Local Improvement Scheme) funding.
Residents living along these local roads, not in the charge of Mayo county council, must also make a contribution towards the scheme to have their local road improved.
Minister Ring told Midwest News today that 150 roads in Mayo have been done under this scheme since he re-introduced the scheme.
