The Business watch app in the Castlebar area is advising of dud 20 and 50 euro counterfeit notes that are in circulation in the area.
Members of Castlebar Business Watch highlighted the problem immediately on the app yesterday.
Castlebar Business Watch is an initiative set up last June between the gardai and businesses in the county town, under the auspices of community garda Mick Toland.
A review of Castlebar Business Watch will take place upstairs in the Bridge on Main street in Castlebar this Thursday afternoon between 2 and 4.30pm. It’s open to all businesses in the area to drop in and discuss local concerns.
Garda Superintendent Joe Doherty will be in attendance.
Garda Toland has been telling Midwest News about the success of the app in alerting businesses to potential problems.
Castlebar Gardai are hosting a tour of the garda station for members of Down Syndrome Mayo on this Friday.
