Civil Defence volunteers are invited to attend a meeting in Claremorris next month, to have their say on the future direction of Civil Defence in Ireland.

This is one of eight regional consultation meetings being held around the country.

The Minister with responsibility for Defence Paul Kehoe says the meetings will give volunteers an excellent opportunity to have their input into Civil Defence policy.

There are currently 3,500 trained volunteers across the country, who assist in a variety of emergency and non-emergency events.

The local consultation meeting will take place in the McWilliam Park Hotel, Claremorris on Wednesday 28th November, starting at 8pm and will start with  short presentations from the local Civil Defence branch and Volunteer Ireland, before opening the floor for volunteers to make their observations.
