Castlebar Municipal District Councillors yesterday requested that Transport Infrastructure Ireland come back to them with a proposal to reduce the speed limit at Breaffy within a month or a protest will be held on that stretch of road.
A number of road collisions have occurred on the N60 road at Breaffy, including a serious accident last weekend in which two people were injured, one seriously.
Councillors have been pressing for the speed limit to be reduced from 100km to 60km.
Yesterday they gave TII a month to come back with proposals or a protest will take place on November 11th, similar to what happened in Bohola village during their campaign.
Cathaoirleach of Castlebar Municipal District Cllr Michael Kilcoyne told Midwest News today that the time for talking on this matter is done and action will be taken.
