PDFORRA - the association representing members of the Defence Forces - claims large numbers of soldiers, sailors and Air Corps staff are buying their way out of the Defence Forces because they're unhappy with their pay and conditions.

The claim was made today, as PDFORRA begins its annual delegate conference at Breaffy House Hotel in Castlebar.

General Secretary of PDFORRA Ger Guinan told Midwest News that, since the start of this year, over 600 members of the Defence Forces have paid to leave the service, while over 800 left last year, as they're unhappy with their pay and conditions.
