Efforts are ongoing to secure a home ground for Castlebar Mitchels Ladies Football Club, and one of the five training pitches at MacHale Park may be an option, because of the development of three new training pitches by the GAA at Lough Lannagh. That’s the view of Castlebar Fianna Fail Councillor Martin McLoughlin.

The Councillor says the significance of Mayo County Council purchasing almost 30 acres of land at Lough Lannagh recently and the GAA developing the three training pitches on the site, should hopefully free up one of the pitches at MacHale park.

Castlebar Mitchel’s Ladies Football club have long sought a permanent pitch for their club, who at present depend on accessing other clubs training facilities for their members to both train and host games.
