The lack of high-speed broadband in rural areas has been highlighted by an 11-year old Mayo girl, who has built several websites and is currently the EU Digital Girl of the Year.

Aoibheann Mangan from the village of Hollymount says that, when she needs to work on one of her websites or complete a school project, one of her parents has to drive to the Tesco car park in a local town to get good broadband.

Aoibheann, a student at Cloghans Hill National School, spoke recently at the Voices of Impact conference at the RDS in Dublin, as part of the World Meeting of Families.
