More than 300 candles will float down the river Moy in Foxford tonight in a ceremony called “candles to the sea” as part of the annual Foxford Riverfest which gets underway at 7.30pm this evening.
The ceremony commemorates deceased loved ones, with the names of the dead attached to candles and the poignant event has become a highlight of the Foxford Riverfest.
The fireworks display tomorrow evening (Sat) along the river at the Admiral Brown promenade, just below the Foxford Woollen Mills, is another highlight of a festival that is centred around the town’s river – The Moy.
The festival will be officially opened this evening by the Parish Priest of Foxford Fr Padraig Costello and Canon Andrea Wills, and the Foxford Brass Band will be performing.
Tomorrow, Saturday is a fun filled family day with a variety of interesting and varied events for young and old.
