A woman in her 60's has died in a road collision outside Castlebar.
The N5 Castlebar-Westport road remains closed following the two-car collision, which occurred at about 8.30 this morning at Ballymacragh, known locally as Coyne's Corner.
The female driver of one of the cars involved was removed to Mayo University Hospital and was pronounced dead a short time later.
The second driver in his mid-30's was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are at the scene, and the N5 Castlebar-Westport road remains closed to traffic, with diversions in place.
Motorists are advised to divert via the R311 Newport Road - particularly heavy goods vehicles, as other local routes are narrow.
The R330 from Partry to Westport should only be used for cars and light commercial vehicles.
Gardai are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to contact them in Castlebar at 094 - 90 38200 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666-111.
