Five people were taken to hospital following a crash on the N17 between Knock and Kilkelly yesterday evening.
Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the collision.
A car and SUV collided on the N17, close to the turnoff to Kiltimagh, at around 4.50pm yesterday evening.
One person was airlifted from the scene to University Hospital Galway, and four others were taken by ambulances to Mayo University Hospital in Castlebar.
The extent of their injuries is not known.
The road remains closed to traffic as a result, and diversions are in place and are expected to remain in place until about noon time today.
