Twelve months after a public meeting highlighted the dangers of a one kilometer stretch of road along the R332 through the Galway village of Kilbannon, the dangers for pedestrians using the route remain the same.

Local resident, Pascal Mannion told Midwest News today that it’s like “ Mondelo Park, with cars flying low” along the road. The opening of the new Tuam bypass and motorway, earlier this year, has increased the traffic from West Mayo travelling to Galway,Dublin and Shannon.

He says that despite promises from local TDs and councillors that something would be done to make this piece of busy road safer, no such measures are underway.
