A food business in Mayo was among 6 businesses served with closure orders during the month of April for breaches of food safety legislation.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland says a closure order was served on the food business being run in a house and garden at the Demesne, Dalgan, Shrule.

The FSAI says the establishment was operating without approval, and that general and specific hygiene requirements were not met.

It also says the food premises was not constructed so as to avoid contamination of meat, and the business was closed to the likelihood of posing a grave and immediate danger to public health.

The closure order was served on 20th April and has not yet been lifted.
