A new exhibition of cherished objects from members of the public has opened today at the National Museum of Country Life at Turlough, Castlebar.
The exhibition arises out of the RTE television programme “National Treasures”, where John Creedon and a team of curators travel the country, assessing a mix of objects put forward by the public as “national treasures”.
The final episode in the 4-part series will be aired this Sunday evening at 6.30 on RTE One television.
Thousands of people across the country have brought forward their treasured objects, and about 70 of these have been selected for the final exhibition, which reflect various chapters, themes and moments from Ireland’s social history over the past century.
The exhibition will be on display at the National Museum of Country Life in Turlough until the end of August.
