The provision of a new Fire Station in Crossmolina needs to be expedited – that’s according to local Fianna Fail Councillor Michael Loftus.
Fire personnel in Crossmolina are currently working out of two Portacabins.
While a new Fire Station is expected to be built by 2020, Councillor Loftus wants that date brought forward, due to a number of developments planned for the area over the next year, including the flood relief scheme and new windfarms.
He raised the matter at a recent meeting of the Ballina Municipal District, asking that Mayo County Council would ask the Environment Minister to expedite the delivery of the new fire station.
His motion was carried.
