Galway Senator Trevor O’Clochartaigh is to resign his position in the Seanad, after being appointed Communications Manager for TG4.

The Carraroe-based Senator has previously worked in Irish-language theatre and television production, having been involved with Ros na Rún and Fair City.

Trevor O’Clochartaigh was elected to the Seanad in 2011 and re-elected in 2016, and announced last November that he was leaving Sinn Fein due to “serious disciplinary issues” within the party.

The 49-year old has now confirmed he will resign his position in the Seanad to take up the role of TG4 Communications Manager early next month, and says he’s looking forward to the new role.
