The wait continues for residents in the Carrowholly area of Westport, who are waiting 4 years now to have a flood wall rebuilt that would save their homes from the impact of winter storms.

The saga is ongoing for years, as a range of planning issues continues to impede progress on the flood mitigation work.

At this week’s monthly meeting of West Mayo Municipal District cllrs were informed by the Manager that the OPW are again seeking additional information on the development from Mayo County Council.

Local, long time campaigner on the matter, Independent councillor Christy Hyland told Midwest News that the further delay is wrong and is causing untoward stress to the community affected.
