Earlier, this week the Cabinet formally agreed to hold a referendum on the repeal of the 8TH Amendment in May of this year. It also intends to support enabling abortion without restrictions in the first twelve weeks of pregnancy.
Midwest News has asked both Fine Gael deputies in the county where they stand on the issues. Neither Minister Michael Ring or former Taoiseach Enda Kenny has responded to the question.
Fianna Fail’s Dara Calleary is against the Repeal of the 8th Amendment and unrestricted abortion, while his colleague Lisa Chambers supports both the repeal and 12 weeks unrestricted abortion.
