A new 30 km/h speed limit will come into effect from tomorrow, 1st Feb, at a further 130 housing estates under the control of Mayo County Council.

Signs are now being erected in these housing estates to remind motorists of the 30 km/h limit.

This brings to 343 the number of housing estates across Co Mayo that have by-laws introduced reducing the speed to 30 km/h, while by-laws will be introduced later this year for the remaining estates across the county.

The new signage identifies slow zones to encourage drivers to slow down and be aware of children playing in the estates.
