Motorists across the region are advised to take extra caution, as heavy fog is lingering in areas of the West.

A status orange fog warning is in place for the entire country for the rest of today and until 2am tomorrow morning.

Met Eireann is warning that fog, with very poor visibility, will continue to linger in many inland areas this afternoon and will become more extensive and dense this evening and for a time tonight.

The fog warning remains in place until 2 am tomorrow morning.

Further frost is also likely across the West tonight, as temperatures fall to between zero and three degrees.

Windy and wet weather will move into the region tomorrow, and a status yellow rainfall warning has been issued for counties Mayo, Galway, Clare, Cork & Kerry.

Met Eireann says heavy rainfall is expected from tomorrow afternoon into Saturday morning,  with falls of 30 to 50mm expected.
