Road closure

  • The R331 Claremorris Road out of Ballinrobe is closed to traffic at present following a road collision this afternoon.

    Midwest News understands that a wheel came off a slurry tanker, which caused to tanker to shed a large amount of slurry onto the road. A gas line was also damaged in the incident.

    The clean-up will take some time and the road will remain closed for a period. Motorists are asked to avoid the area if at all possible and to expect delays.

     

  • The Foxford to Swinford road is closed to traffic at present, following a collision.

    A 2-vehicle collision occurred earlier this evening outside Callow Church.

    Gardai say there were no serious injuries sustained in the crash, but the road is currently closed to traffic, and diversions are in place.

  • The N26 Road between Foxford and Swinford has reopened to traffic this afternoon after a truck jack-knifed there earlier. The lorry jack-knifed in very icy conditions earlier. 

  • The old Turlough Road in Castlebar has reopened to traffic this morning.

    The road, from Turlough village to Horkan’s Garden Centre, had been closed since yesterday afternoon after a crane went on fire.

    Gardai say no-one was injured in the incident, but the road was closed for a period to facilitate a clean-up by the council.

  • A truck has overturned in Tooreen close to the Ave Maria Nursing Home and the road is currently closed to traffic.

    Emergency services are at the scene and diversions are in place.
