The 2018 series will see the Republic of Ireland with two consecutive away fixtures as the Boys in Green commence battle, taking on the Welsh Dragons in a fortnight’s time, while a month later, they will visit Luton Town to take on their hosts England in what should prove to be one of their toughest tests I the 4-match programme.

  • Former Chelsea & Republic of Ireland International Damien Duff travels to Castlebar with his talented U15 Shamrock Rovers side who sit nicely at the top of SSE Airtricity group 2 on Saturday July 28th.

They are undefeated this season with 11 games played, 45 goals scored and only 4 conceded. With no less then 6 Irish internationals in their squad including the highly rated Sami Clarke they are a fantastic team to watch.

Mayo SL may have been defeated in their trip to Dublin but look to change things around this time and give Rovers a tough game.

With Solar 21 Parks pitch looking in fine condition Shamrock Rovers are looking forward to travelling down to play on such a pristine surface. The game on Saturday week kicks off at 2pm.

  • Mayo U14s were in action at same time as the U16s Sunday morning. Management utilised the entire squad in this game to ensure all girls got good game time.As has been the case all week this was another tight game with little separating the girls and Galway. Mayo fell behind and couldn't retrieve it so finished in 8th position.

The 16s had their match on one of the Astroturf pitches against MGL. Management here also utilised the full squad bearing in mind that injuries at this stage had reduced us to 18 fit players.

The opening exchanges were even and the first real chance was from a MGL corner when the ball was just headed over. On 14 minutes Maria Cannon intercepted a Dublin attack and quickly  counter attacked and fired a super diagonal shot just inches wide of the far corner. The game was end to end by now and both Roisin Kelly and Leah Conway gave excellent covering defending on 2 occasions.

The 2nd half was only started when Mayo keeper Emma Mc Nutty had to be really brave in diving at the incoming forward to make a top save and getting a boot in the nose for her heroics. Mayo continued to threaten and Ava Keane was unlucky on 27 minutes. The Dublin side went ahead 4 mins from time and things looked bleak. The girls kept plugging away knowing that there was a considerable amount of time lost to a Dublin injury.Deep into added time a brilliantly floated Annie Gough free kick was headed into the top of the net by Kate O Dowd. Cue manic celebrations and there was still time for another chance for Mayo and an unbelievable Hana Ueno clearance off our line.

    Full time and 1-1

After the initial 5 penalties the 2 sides were still tied 4 -4. MGL eventually won 6 -5 on penalties.

Thus Mayo finished 4th overall and while this squad has finished in the top 4 in Ireland in 2 of the past 3 years this year feels like under achievement by both players and staff.

The fixtures have been confirmed for the National U15 SSE Airtricity League.

Mayo League will be in Group 2 and will be away to Athlone Town in their opening game on Sunday March 25th, at home to Sligo Rovers on April 8th, at home to UCD on April 15th, away to Bray Wanderers on Arpil 22nd, at home to Longford Town on April 29th.

Mayo will travel to face Shamrock Rovers on May 13th, entertain Cabinteely on May 20th, Athlone Town on May 27th, travel to face Sligo Rovers on July 1st, UCD on July 8th, entertain Bray Wanderers on July 15th and are away to Longford Town on July 22nd.

The last two round robin fixtures see Mayo entertain Shamrock Rovers on July 29th and away to Cabinteely on August 12th.

  • SFAI U16 Cup CFA Regional Final
    Manulla 1-0 Salthill Devon

  • SFAI U12 Championship Final
    Mayo 2-1 DDSL

  • Mayo went down 3 -0 to South Tipperary in their first of 2 games on Friday in the Gaynor Cup. Trailing to a 4th minute opener the Mayo girls failed to match the work rate and tenacity of the Tipp girls although the scoreline probably flattered the winners.

Still very much all to play for though in this Group D as all 4 teams each have 3 points with the final round of games taking place at 6 this evening.

  • Team of The Month Sponsored by Hastings

The award for Team of the Month for May goes to Snugboro United who are the in-form side in the CastleCourt Hotel Premier League. They won both their league games to make it four league wins in a row and also progressed in the Connacht Gold Premier Cup.

    Manager Of the Month

The manager of the Month Award for May goes to Mick Duffy from Ballina Town. Mick had led Ballina to an unbeaten start to the 2018 season going into the month of May and this continued as they won both their league games without conceding a goal and also made it through to the Quarter Finals of the Connacht Gold Super Cup with a win over Bangor Hibs.

Players of the month sponsored by The Sheepwalk Bar in Swinford

The Elverys Sports Super League player of the month for May is James O’Donnell from Westport United. James has become a versatile player for John Russell’s side and he already put in some brilliant performances so far this season.

The player of the Month in the CastleCourt Hotel Premier League is Glenhest Rovers youngster Cathal Chambers. Cathal has been a revelation as his side moved to the top of the Premier League. In May he scored in all three games his side played including a late winner against Achill Rovers and a goal in the cup and league games against Conn Rangers.

It’s the top goalscorer in the Three Store League One that wins the payer of the month for May as Dale Hopkins from Ballina Town B is the unanimous choice. Dale scored five league goals and one in the cup as Ballina Town B recorded three victories in the month of May.

In the Killeen Sports Ground League Town the award goes to Dylan Ralph from Ballyvary Blue Bombers. The midfielder has been in fine form this season and played a key part in their win over table toppers Hollister at the end of May.

Young Player of the Month Sponsored by Oliver Kelleher

Our Young Player of The Month comes from the current League Champions as Mikey O’Brien from Westport United is the winner for the month of May. O’Brien has been an integral part of John Russell’s side since he returned form Sligo Rovers and he has been a regular on the right-hand side of the pitch where he has been heavily involved in a number of goals last month as he continued his excellent start to the season.

The Mayo League has confirmed that it has decided to leave Sunday August 26th free from all football activities, due to the visit of Pope Francis to Ireland.
